About Shin Chan
Shin Chan (sometimes better known as Crayon Shin Chan) is an anime program that has been on the air in Japan since 1992. It follows the antics of five year-old Shinnosuke (hence, Shin) Nohara, his hapless parents Misae and Hiro and his baby sister Himawari, although she did not join the cast until later. It also features his friends and neighbors set in Kasakube, Japan. Mostly the show revolves around Shin, with his insane wit and sometimes (okay, mostly) inappropriate jokes. However, in the Japanese version his jokes can be hard to translate. The early Shin episodes were based on the comic of the same name that ran in a Japanese weekly magazine, but as the show progressed it became more anime in feel. Shin Chan is broadcast in many countries around the world and has developed nothing short of a cult following. And with legend comes merchandise.
